| Red/Blue Fleet Scoring: Red fleet boats are the more experienced skippers and/or the lower handicapped boats. Blue fleet boats are the newer skippers and/or the higher handicapped boats. The skipper shall have the option of participating in either the red or blue fleets. You can choose to move to the other fleet at any time. No race can be counted in both fleets. When possible, the race committee will use a two or four lap race. The red fleet will complete all laps. The blue fleet will complete only half the laps.
Red Fleet Scoring: Score the red fleet finish positions ignoring the blue fleet boats. (This is not to insult the blue fleet boats, but to eliminate their effect on the red fleet results.) The entire Saturday or Wednesday races from May through September shall constitute the season races. Each skipper's/boat’s calculated position shall be summed and then divided by the number of races sailed to get the average position. The lower the average the better the position. To qualify for the season, the boat/skipper must race more than 50% of the total races. Award trophies to the top half of the qualifying boats/skippers. Blue Fleet Scoring: When the blue fleet sails half the laps, their time will be doubled to calculate the results. The Basic Portsmouth Handicap System will be used to calculate the results. Both the blue and red boats positions will be used in the blue fleet calculations. Blue fleet boats gain credit for beating both blue and red fleet boats. A blue fleet boat will receive a score of the number of boats they beat. The higher the score the better. Each month will be considered a series of races. Trophies will be awarded for each monthly Saturday series and each monthly Wednesday series. To qualify in any monthly series, a blue fleet boat will need to have sailed in at least 50% of the races that monthly series. Each skippers/boats positions shall be summed for the month and then divided by the number of races sailed by that skipper/boat to calculate the average score for the series. The higher average score the better. Trophies are awarded to at least the top 50% of the qualifying boats/skippers for that month. The trophies shall be awarded during the social event the following month. |
